Description

Bonviva Injection is a 3 ml solution containing 3 mg of ibandronic acid (as sodium monohydrate), resulting in a concentration of 1 mg/ml. It is primarily used for treating osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are at increased risk of fractures.

Indications and Usage Bonviva Injection is specifically indicated for:

  • Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at increased risk of fracture.

Clinical studies have demonstrated a reduction in the risk of vertebral fractures with Bonviva, although its efficacy on femoral neck fractures has not been established.

Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics

  • Metabolic Interactions: Unlikely, as ibandronic acid does not inhibit major human hepatic P450 isoenzymes and does not induce the hepatic cytochrome P450 system.
  • Elimination: Ibandronic acid is eliminated solely by renal excretion without undergoing any biotransformation.

Safety and Precautions Based on its pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile, and reported adverse reactions, Bonviva is expected to have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

For effective treatment of osteoporosis and reduced risk of vertebral fractures, Bonviva Injection provides a targeted approach with minimal metabolic interactions and straightforward renal elimination.
